The investigation into the alleged murder of 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal has entered a crucial phase, with Pune Rural Police preparing to recreate the crime scene at Lohagad Fort to verify how the incident unfolded and examine the claims made by the accused.

Investigators believe the exercise could help establish the sequence of events on the day Ketan died. Police said the exact schedule has been kept confidential due to security and investigative considerations.

Crime scene reconstruction to test prosecution’s case

According to police, the reconstruction will focus on the movements of Ketan, accused Siya Goyal and her alleged partner Chetan Babulal Chaudhary at the fort. Officers will attempt to identify the location from where Ketan was allegedly pushed and assess the path and distance of his fall into the ravine.

A dummy body will be used during the exercise.

Police said the case relies heavily on circumstantial evidence because there were no eyewitnesses to the incident. Investigators are therefore examining events before and after Ketan’s death in detail.

So far, statements of seven people have been recorded as part of the investigation.

Employee may become key witness

Among those questioned is Neeraj, an employee at Chetan’s shop, who was detained and interrogated for more than 24 hours.

Police said they have found no evidence linking him directly to the alleged crime. However, investigators claim Neeraj told them Chetan had used his mobile phone on the day of the incident.

According to police, Chetan had allegedly left his own phone behind and used Neeraj’s device to communicate with Siya. Investigators are now considering making Neeraj a key witness in the case.

Parents make emotional remarks

Siya Goyal’s parents have publicly said that if a court finds their daughter guilty, she should receive the harshest punishment permitted under law.

They also made an emotional remark, saying she should be pushed from the same spot where Ketan allegedly fell to his death. The legal proceedings in the case are continuing.

Police allege murder disguised as accidental fall

Police have alleged that Siya and Chetan pushed Ketan from Lohagad Fort in Maharashtra’s Sahyadri range, leading to his death.

The incident was initially treated as an accidental fall during a trek before the investigation took a different direction.

According to police, Siya stated that Ketan had claimed his family was influential and financially powerful, and that she would not be able to walk away from the marriage even if she wanted to. These claims remain subject to judicial scrutiny.

Investigators further alleged that Siya had repeatedly tried to bring Ketan to Lohagad Fort. The couple first visited the site on May 31.

Police said Siya allegedly sought another visit on June 4, but Ketan’s mother did not allow it. During a subsequent visit on June 14, investigators claim Siya allegedly attempted to push Ketan off a cliff.

According to police, Ketan survived by holding onto a bush. When he questioned Siya, she allegedly told him she had seen a snake and pushed him to protect him.

Police have alleged that Ketan was eventually killed during another visit to the fort on June 18.

Investigation traces relationship between accused

Siya’s mother has disputed the police version, claiming her daughter did not want to go trekking and that Ketan had suggested the trip. She further alleged that Ketan’s mother persuaded Siya to accompany him.

Police said Siya met Chetan during a business meeting last year. Investigators allege the two entered into a relationship in November 2025 while preparations for Siya’s marriage to Ketan were underway.

According to police, Siya owned a bakery, Chetan ran a dry fruit business, and Ketan served as Director and Chief Marketing Officer of his family’s real estate company, Success Group.
